Fargo is a city in Cass County, North Dakota in the United States. It is the county seat of Cass County, located in the Red River Valley region. The population was 90,599 at the 2000 census, but has since risen to around 100,000, making it the largest city in North Dakota. Along with West Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota, it forms the center of the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Area. The metropolitan area, comprising all of Cass and Clay counties, has a population of 174,367[3] as of 2000 census, and estimated to have risen to 192,779 as of the 2007 Census Bureau estimate. It encompasses a large physical area of Cass County in southeastern North Dakota and Clay County in northwestern Minnesota.
